I finished this blanket a few days ago. It's flannel with a cotton batting and incredibly soft and cozy. I wanted to make something special for my one-year-old and I came up with the diamond design a few weeks ago. Although my original design had a plain background and back. But when shopping with a toddler things get mixed up and I ended up getting the fabric cut too short so I had to improvise. I'm glad I did too! I like how the diamond design is repeated on the background and around to the back, I also repeated the fabric chosen for the diamonds to fill in the back.

I serged the edges of all the diamonds and sewed them in place. I'm hoping the blanket will last a long time and wanted to reinforce the edges to prevent frayed fabric.
